Stephen is an Owner and Chairman of the Holding Company (H Marcel Guest Limited) and is responsible for the sales and growth of family business HMG, taking it to present position as the largest independent industrial paint manufacturer in the UK

In 2001, Stephen invented and patented a novel Biocidal technology (Byotrol) and Floated Byotrol Plc on AIM in July 2005.
