Ernesto Alfaro-Moreno

Group Leader Nanosafety

Ernesto Alfaro-Moreno is the leader of the Nanosafety Research Group at INL, leading research on developing methods to assess the toxicity and safety of nanomaterials, with a broad approach evaluating from possible effects on humans from to environmental effects.

 

He has a bachelor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the School of Chemistry, a Master in Biochemistry and PhD in Biomedical Sciences both from the School of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He was awarded the European Respiratory Society Fellowship to develop postdoctoral experience at the Lung Toxicology Unit of the K.U. Leuven. He was the leader of the Environmental Toxicology Laboratory (2008-2015) at the National Cancerology Institute of Mexico. In 2015, he moved to Sweden to lead an Inhalation Toxicology Project at the Swedish Toxicological Sciences Research Center (SWETOX) working closely with the Karolinska Institutete, Stockholm University and Örebro University. Ernesto joined the INL in June 2020.
