Dr Heather M. Yates

Reader
University of Salford
Dr Heather Yates is a Reader in the School of Science, Engineering and Environment at Salford University. She received her PhD at UMIST in 1989 for work on thin film semiconductors. Since then she has participated widely in a lead role for projects based on atmospheric pressure Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) for functional films and the development of deposition equipment. Her research focuses on the deposition of tailored thin film coatings with functional properties such as biocidal, conductive, anti-reflection and hydrophobic materials. Heather’s interests include nanostructured coatings for increasing solar cell efficiency and anti-microbial coatings for infection reduction.
