Dan received a 1^st Class with Hons. Degree in Chemistry with Business Management in 2009 from the University of Sussex. He then stayed on to complete his PhD in 2013 in Physical Inorganic Chemistry.

In 2014 Dan moved to University of Warwick as a research technician before starting the Polymer Characterisation Research Technology platform in 2017, where he has been ever since.
