Dr Chloe James

Senior Lecturer, Medical Microbiology

University of Salford

I am a senior lecturer in medical microbiology. My chief research interests lie in how bacteria interact in complex communities and develop resistance to antibiotics. I am very active in science communication and public engagement, running microbiology-based activities at science festivals and stakeholder events (https://hub.salford.ac.uk/microbihome). I enjoy working across disciplines (biologists, chemists, physicists, media, artists, makers, computer scientists, virtual reality, creative writers) to find new and exciting ways to advance the understanding and wonder of microbiology. I am chair of the communications committee for The Microbiology Society.
