As the voice for the industry, amongst other services, BASA supports its members by representing and promoting the industry and offering guidance on technical and compliance issues. Often failures in adhesive bonding and sealant applications are due to the poor application of product and having suitable training qualifications is essential to maintain high quality workmanship. In addition, adhesive and sealant manufacturers themselves require well trained staff to be able to offer their customers innovative products and to keep pace with the increasing regulatory changes necessitating reformulation.  Relevant training is not simply a case of hiring people with the right academic qualifications, but it is about having an appropriate set of skills as well as an understanding of the underlying technology and principals. This presentation will look at the overall training picture today and consider how BASA can facilitate the development of specific bonding training programmes in future.
