SurfexOxidatively cured coatings, such as alkyds and oil-based paints, need catalysts to increase the reaction rate and achieve faster drying times. However, with the appropriate catalyst selection, it is possible to positively impact other critical properties such as durability, weatherability and gloss retention. This presentation will address how Borchers’ novel catalyst technology can take coating performance to the next level by adding enhanced value to alkyd-based products. The data will showcase a comparison of Borchers’ catalysts against current technologies available in the market highlighting adhesion testing, resistance to corrosion, and change of gloss. This will cover various market segments, including decorative and industrial systems for metal applications. Furthermore, the presentation will address market trends and help guide paint formulators towards improved GHS labelling of products creating more sustainable formulations.
