In March 2017 the European Commission published Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/542 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP) by adding an Annex on harmonised information relating to emergency health response. This Annex became the new Annex VIII to CLP and brings new requirements for companies to notify their hazardous mixtures for health and physical effects in a new harmonised format to each Member State’s Poison Centre. It also introduces a new concept the Unique Formula Identifier (UFI) that must be printed on the label of each mixture. The new regulation has a phased deadline starting with consumer mixtures needing to be notified by 1st January 2020. Caroline will cover the current and new poison centre requirements providing practical top tips on what to do now to ensure compliance.
