SurfexSince the turn of the century, globalisation has rapidly increased. This has been enabled by an integrated global supply chain which has grown and evolved to become highly optimised, transporting massive volumes of freight efficiently and cost-effectively around the world. However, in the last two years several factors and in particular Covid-19 and Brexit have broken down and disrupted key links within the global supply chain, leading to a chain reaction and a “perfect storm”
As a result, shipping performance decreased rapidly while costs rose dramatically and as in many other countries, the UK chemical supply chain was adversely impacted by the logistical gridlock which negatively affected and impeded the supply of key chemicals and hampered the recovery of the UK’s economy.
This presentation will take a look at the catalysts and underlying root causes that created this perfect storm along with a look into the future for the chemical supply chain.
