Legal restrictions are getting tighter all over the world. Next to regulations for solvent evaporation during coating application (VOC) in Asia, US and Europe new discussions will appear. State-of-the-art protective coatings will also be discussed regarding their ingredients because of a higher potential risk to humans and environment. To help coatings formulator to find a proper solution in this difficult environment. Silicone-Epoxy hybrid resins and α-Ω-silane terminated polyurethanes lead to sprayable low-VOC coatings with have a superior performance and could be applied with the common spraying equipment. Also a reduction of the amount of coating layers will lead to an economic advantage.
