SurfexIn the field of waterborne Architectural Coatings for façade and interior wall paints, regulatory requirements like Eco labelling or the reduction of VOC’s are becoming more stringent. These restrictions imposed limits on the formulation freedom for the formulator. Formerly suitable raw materials can no longer be used – however, changes to the formulation should not result in a decline in quality. On the contrary, the performance requirements for façade and interior wall paints become more ambitious with regards to durability, optical properties and functionality.
The challenge therefore is to find additives which meet the regulatory requirements (such as the TEGO Foamex range for Architectural Coatings), help to economise the formulation (TEGO® Dispers 747 W for direct grind), or even proactively contribute to meeting the VOC targets (like replacing the coalescing agents with a multifunctional additive, like SURYNOL® AD 01).
Additionally, understanding the mechanism of the technology better leverages their ability to outperform even for adjacent properties – (TEGO® Phobe 1659 does not only work in hydrophobising but also increases stability and workability.
